Perth's Best Pre Ball Photo Locations
Here at Rift, we have photographed pre balls / ball befores / school balls in hundreds locations all around Perth.
We have learnt where its best and when its best to be there.
Below are a list of our favourite spots and galleries from us at these locations.
Cottesloe Civic Centre
***
First of all. Damn, what a spot.
This is what I want to hear every ball client say their second location is.
Why?
Because it has a beautiful timeless look, loads of space, greenery, limestone and an infinite amount of places for group shots.
It’s not surprising that this location is also used for a lot of weddings too.
There is lot’s of light around as well and many places to go to dodge the harsh sunlight during different times of year.
This location is a bit tricky from mid-April onwards as the sunset is quite early. The best months would be from January - March.

KINGS PARK
***
I had to put this one somewhere in the list. It’s by far the most popular spot and for good reason!
You get to take in some incredible views of the city, there’s plenty of space and greenery.
King’s Park is also great later in the year as it has a lot of soft artificial lighting for us to use with the city lights in the background.
This location is huge and there’s definitely more spots than just the Frasers Ave grass strip lookout to take your photos. I highly suggest asking us to take your photos somewhere on the other side of Frasers Ave and we can get some really beautiful photos with clear backdrops (as this location is normally really busy with other pre balls).
Afterwards we can walk across the road and take photos with your mates from other pre ball groups!
You should be mindful to check if events are happening at King’s Park on the day of your ball such as concerts as these can:
Make traffic a nightmare to get in
Leave you with no where to park!
Queens Gardens is another city location you can hit up if this happens though.
Candella Square Gardens
HIDDEN GEM
***
We’ve only done one pre ball at this location but wow, if you are north of the river then this is the hidden gold.
I was reluctant to put the location up here publicly because it might get too popular, but ah well, stuff it!
This location has some amazing greenery which works very well with our photography style here at Rift. The gardens are quiet with lots of space and plenty of parking for big busses and limos.
Queens gardens
***
This is often an overlooked location mainly because not many people have heard of it.
Queens Gardens provides some really unique opportunities for group photos with bridges, lakes and reflections. There is loads of space and parking for the bus, plus it’s a lot closer to a lot of the city venues when compared to Kings Park.
I personally love sunset here which creates some amazing light through the trees.
wanneroo botanical gardens
***
The Wanneroo Botanical Gardens provide a very unique and private photo location for pre ball groups north of the river.
They typically have an amazing display of fairy lights each year too which makes for a stunning backdrop.
To take photos here you must pay a fee, so organise a big group (possibly the whole year group) to come and take photos so you can get the best bang for your buck.

bay view lookout
HIDDEN GEM
***
The Bay View Lookout in Mosman Park offers some incredible vista’s to take photos from.
From the lookout you’re able to get some lovely greenery, golden hour and some beautiful views of our Swan River in the background.
There is a large parking lot right next to which is perfect for the limo or bus to drop you off as well.
I really rate this location as it’s not very well known and has lots to offer! If you’re looking for something different then this is it.
South perth foreshore
***
South Perth Foreshore boasts and incredible city skyline view which is usually quite protected from strong winds.
It’s a wicked option for anyone south of the river and there’s a beautiful jetty at the end of Mend’s street which you can line the crew up on.
There’s not much greenery around but if you after a chill spot along the water then look no further.
Monument Hill
***
Monument Hill is another awesome spot if your ball or pre ball house is near Fremantle.
It offers some really beautiful lighting because of all the limestone, plus you have views of the ocean, greenery, rolling hills and stairs for group shots.
This is one I always recommend to groups looking for something different!
